TownTeam 2024/25
The Clitheroe Town Team is a voluntary, apolitical, community-led group dedicated to enhancing the economic, social, and cultural vitality of our medieval market town for residents, businesses, and visitors. While we maintain direct reporting links to the Borough Council, we operate independently and do not assume or replace statutory duties or functions designated to local authorities.
In the UK, there are over 300 Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and numerous Town Teams working towards similar objectives. The Clitheroe Town Team comprises experienced voices representing various facets of life in Clitheroe, ensuring a comprehensive approach to community development. We are fortunate to have Councillors from Ribble Valley Borough Council, the Town Council and Lancashire County Council as members of the Team.
Our Mission
The mission of the CLITHEROE TOWN TEAM is to support and initiate projects designed to deliver key advantages to our town, its citizens and visitors. We seek to support, empower, and provide a high quality resource to our community in a safe and secure environment. Our success isn’t measured in terms of wealth or profit margin, but by the value we provide to those we serve.

With the Town Team mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with supporting local action. Activities that promote the town, improve the look and feel or make it a safer place to live and work will always get our attention.

Better for Everyone
Working together
The representatives on the Town Team come from all different organisations so that we have input and a richer and more informed debate. For instance, we have a representative from the Sixth Form and the contribution to the debates have been enlightening and important. The bodies represented are from: Tourism, Churches, Environment, Culture, Tourism, Hospitality, Retail, Market, Town Centre Management, Sixth Form, Churches, Primrose Nature Reserve, Architecture, The Civic Society, The Town Council, the RVBC Economic Development and Planning Officer, The Chairman of the Borough’s Economic Development Committee and Lancashire County Council.
